This is an exciting opportunity to be a member of a National Institute for Health and Care Research-funded study teaming working aims to understand safety, risks and the balance of harms and benefits arising from care received by patients within their own homes. The study is led by Professor Andrew-Carson Stevens, Professor of Patient Safety, at Cardiff University.
 
The successful candidate will work with closely with Professor Andrew Carson-Stevens and colleagues from the School of Medicine, the School of Law and Politics, and the Centre for Adult Social Care Research (CARE) at Cardiff University, our public contributors, ENRICH Cymru and University College London.

They will work independently, with support from a Research Assistant, to lead stakeholder focus groups and interviews with key respondents, and interviews with service users and informal/unpaid caregivers. This role will also include dissemination activities and involvement with publications and conferences.

The successful applicant will work closely with a team of clinical academics, social care representatives and public and patient contributors with a focus on discovering what good caring outcomes are within a home-based context.  They will be based at the Heath Park campus, Cardiff University. 

Applicants should have considerable experience of conducting research both independently and collaboratively, and be able to demonstrate knowledge of realist synthesis and realist methods.
 
Key skills and experience include the proven ability in effective and persuasive communication and the proven ability to support research groups, ensuring attention to detail and adherence to study timelines.

This post is part time (28 hours per week) and fixed term available from July 1st 2026 until August 31st 2027.

Salary: £51,753 - £56,535 per annum, pro-rata (Grade 7)
Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
